On Vacation - Happy Holidays!

December 17th, 2008

We are now officially on vacation until the new year, and on January 3rd, we’ll be resuming regular operations.

The office will be closed, so unfortunately all phone calls won’t be answered until the 3rd, but if it is dire that I am to be reached, email is always the best way.

You can contact me here. Emails won’t be answered with quite the quickness as usual, but you will receive a response.

Thanks so much, and everybody have a Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah/Happy New Year!

Print Sale

December 9th, 2008

In order to make some room for the brand new darkroom, and the brand new print series that will be coming out, I’m going to be clearing out some of my old mounted prints at an absolutely fantastic rate.

You can purchase them online at my etsy.com shop here. Look under the section photography sale if you are interested.

All black and white prints are handprinted by myself, colour are professionally printed by a lab. They are mounted on acid-free foam core, sprayed with a uv-protectant spray, and mounted on canvas stretchers to give a floating frameless look.

Be sure to check them out while you still can!

Artisans In The Kootenays: Natasha Smith

September 17th, 2008

I had the pleasure of photographing some of Natasha Smith’s wonderful prints the past month, and I thought it was high-time to show her off on this little blog as well.

Natasha is originally from England, she’s specializes in fantastic prints, paintings, and collages. Not only has her fine art been showcased all over, but she also offers wonderful prints and art cards for sale on her website, and locally within the Kootenays.

Be sure to check out her website here, and be prepared to covet some of her pieces for yourself.

Her work is also currently being exhibited at The Craft Connection in Nelson, BC, right in the front of the shop. Be sure to check it out!

Artisans In The Kootenays: Spark Tart

July 16th, 2008

I just wanted to make a post about a really fabulous artisan I’ve had the pleasure of meeting twice now. Her name is Kate Tupper, and she’s the force behind Spark Tart.

She’s a welder by trade, and has used her education and experience in the field along with her creative side to construct fabulous welded furniture completely made out of metal.

She’s located in Nakusp, and with the help of her partner, is running her own business of creating and selling these functional pieces of art.

Visit her website here: Sparktart.com and be wowed by her creations (and if you’re like me, covet them for your home).

Another point of interest: In the July 9th issue of The Express the winner of the photo contest for Canada Day, which I helped judge, was announced, with the winner’s photograph printed on the first page. Go to the Press page, and click on the first thumbnail to view the photograph.

Photography Contest, Publication, & More

June 13th, 2008

Hello everybody! A few quick updates to the website, as well as some exciting opportunities for people within the Kootenays.

1. I’ve been in the Express again! This time I’m helping out Chris Shepherd and Nelson Becker with their “Take Your Best Shot” photo competition.

I will be writing photography tips every week, as well as helping judge. On June 11th, as well as on June 18th, and June 25th you’ll be seeing a quarter of a page dedicated to the contest with my tips, and my images to showcase the tips. Be sure to check it out and enter!

2. Didn’t catch the Express? Well, that’s okay because I’ve created a new little Press section on my website to highlight some stuff written about me, or written by me as pertaining to photography. You can go here to view it.

3. Also, I’ve updated my image gallery, so if you’re so inclined, feel free to take a peruse around and see what I’ve been shooting lately. You can go directly to that gallery here.

Welcome to the Blog!

March 31st, 2008

Hello everybody who is now reading this little blog!

I decided to start this up for a few reasons. I really like the format and idea behind the blog, and I thought it’d fit perfectly along with this website.

In this blog, you might see the following:

1. Information and tips on photography, either pertaining to product and commercial photography, or just photography in general.
2. News and information specific to my photography business, include updates to the website, new contests being held, or anything of interest to current and future clients.
3. Information on photography in the Kootenays - neat photography exhibits, or anything that might be happening, photographically speaking, in the Kootenay/Nelson, BC area

Perhaps sometimes I’ll just update with a photograph or two that I particularly liked.

For now - I just want to thank you all for visiting and reading, and there’ll be some exciting updates announced within the next few days!
